Challenge

It has recently been a challenge to post. Things going on, things to think about, things to accomplish.

I plan to take my typical Wednesday break and return on Thursday.

A thought

Sometimes we get caught up in the frenzy of the moment. Sometimes we need to step back, look at and consider the larger picture.

No matter the outcome of the US election, however all of the thousands of contests turn out, no matter when the contest for president is decided, tonight – or tomorrow, or whenever – the United States will still exist. As will its citizens.

As will fields, sky, mountains, trees, birds.

Life will go on.

Adventure

While walking Achilles and Stella this evening I sorted through some memories. One memory is the Adventure getting married, throwing up my life in Texas, and immigrating to Canada. Here’s a photo of us on our first day on the road to Canada in July 2007. It has been an adventure I have no regrets at all about undertaking.

Life is an adventure. I embrace it.

All done.

After 47 consecutive days of almost exclusively 10 hour shifts, Faye is done with this years’ tomato harvest. A long, grueling haul.

I took a break from most computing yesterday. It was a marvellous day, crisp, cool, sunny. We ran errands, walked the dogs (taking Achilles on a long walk), puttered in the garden, revelled in having more than an hour or two together.

Life is good.

Patches

Sometimes it seems our life is like this rough country road. Patches covering the hurts and wounds; rolling, bumpy and uneven; going through empty territory; leading to . . . the unknown.

Yet I like it. The hurts and wounds heal. The journey – through territory familiar as well as uncharted – is energising. There is always something to see, to do, to feel. Something to be grateful for.

Hands and knees

I got down on my hands and knees for this photo. Beauty, art, life, is above, around, below us, at our feet. It’s good to change our elevation, our perspective. We might see something new, or something familiar from a new perspective.
